I started playing WoW in 2006 while BC was in full swing. As I became an altoholic I was constantly broke, yet ways to acquire gold seemed out of reach. I did my dailies and sold a few items I looted while questing. I finally bought my first epic flyer after weeks of grinding. I had enough gold to get by but couldn't fight the feeling that something just wasn't clicking. Other players seemed to have endless gold. What was I missing?
Toward the end of Wrath, I had a much greater understanding of the various games-within-a-game that WoW provides, and the Auction House was starting to make sense. With so many alts, I decided I should optimize my professions. I changed professions quite a few times, and spent so much time and what little gold I did have on powerleveling them.
Soon I began using spreadsheets, and then creating my own. I began reading gold blogs and lurked on forums. Vendor values, AH tricks, addons, shuffles, and more. All of these things coalesced and I suddenly began making boatloads of gold in the span of a few weeks.
Could it really be this simple? Something I thought was previously out of reach was finally a reality. And so I decided it was time to give back to the community that gave me so much.
A Buyer Has Been Found is home to my thoughts and experiences surrounding the WoW economy. You can call me Gustav. Thanks for reading.
